Having a dog is wonderful, but keeping your home clean and uncluttered is a bit of a challenge. But fortunately, there are relatively simple ways to help keep all your dog's things well organized. From creating your own dog walk station to creating a toy box for your dog, here are my favorite tips for organizing your dog supplies.
When it comes to organizing my dog's walking supplies, I like to keep things simple by just using a few hooks on the wall for our leashes, harnesses and collars. I hung them on the wall, right next to the front door, with some extra towels to clean my dog's muddy legs when we get back inside.
Bonus tip: To keep your house clean, do not forget to use the same entrance with towels nearby so you can easily wipe your dog's paws every time you get inside. If you really feel ambitious (and have enough extra space), you can turn any of your entrances into a playroom.
Organizing Tips for Dog Food and Treats
When it comes to organizing food and dog treats, I like to keep them all in one place, but space can be a problem (especially if you buy in bulk). If you do not have enough room in your pantry and you need to store a large amount of food, you can buy stackable containers, rearrange a cabinet or turn an old dresser into a canteen for dogs.
Organizing Tips for Dog Toys
When it came to keeping my dog's toys well organized, my only priority was to have a crate or box big enough to store them all. I tried to sort them smaller to sort them by type, but it ended up posing more problems than the value since Laika enjoyed toppling them every day with her "I have to break everything to find the perfect toy". So now, I only use one big chest with 8 cubic feet of storage that it can not spill.
When it comes to organizing my dog's documents (veterinary bills, adoption records, vaccines, microchips), I like to organize everything in folders. I keep his records in our mini binder which also contains all my other financial and personal records. This mini-filing has saved me a lot of trouble over the years; In the end, it's hard to find what you need when the time comes.
You can also use a binder, calendar, or basket for your archives. The important thing is to keep them all in one central location (which you will remember) so they are easy to get when needed. Do not make my mistake and suppose you will be able to magically find the appropriate stack of papers later. Make it a habit to organize your documents once a week - this will save you a lot of frustration in the long run.
